Approach
I’m interested in exploring the absurdities of Western culture. So I reverse the ethnographic gaze of curiosity towards ourselves as cultural beings.
Across the topics I’ve worked with – female body hair, Nordic colonialism and now at latest, psychiatric care – there is a common interest in re-narrating the story from an uncommon and maybe even unexpected point of view.
– Louise Hollerup
Culture is embodied in you and me, and the works have surfaced from my own lived experience. From anthropology I bring an attentivesness to the cultural patterns we live in. From filmmaking I get the tools to question them.
